With the development of information technology, the interaction approach between servers and customers have been changing in the food service industry including café and restaurants. The conventional way of placing an order was face-to-face. Customers place an order directly to servers. Furthermore, when a customer requests explanation on a specific menu, servers need to directly explain. For improving the conventional ordering system, the ordering system using a PC or a smart pad has been investigated and finally introduced in a number of restaurants at present. However, there is no case introducing more intuitive approach including hand gestures. This paper designed the system through which customers place an order in their seats without any waiting staff. Moreover, the system was designed to place an order using hand gestures for more intuitive interface than existing systems.
